Thrissur: Actor-turned politician Suresh Gopi has expressed his determination to extend the Kochi Metro to Thrissur as he has revealed that he has been in talks with Kochi Metro MD Loknath Behera for the last few years regarding this initiative.

"Similar discussions had taken place earlier with former MD Muhammad Haneesh. They wanted me to be the brand ambassador for Kochi Metro at that time. However, some opposed the idea, saying it would turn into ‘cow dung.’ Let them put up with this ‘dung’ in the parliament now,” said the actor, illustrating how the word ‘dung’ was used to mock his politics.

Suresh Gopi also announced plans for new guidelines for the conduct of Thrissur Pooram. He also said the current commissioner and collector for the event's organisation will be retained and the concerns raised related to religious rituals and festivities will be rectified within their administration. He informed that these intentions have been communicated to the collector, emphasising that as an MP, he can indulge in the functioning of various departments.

Suresh Gopi emphasised his commitment to serving not only Thrissur, which is his elected constituency, but also even in neighbouring States like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. He has also highlighted the significance of his proposed dream project - a cross-cut road connecting Mannuthy to Changaramkulam or Ponnani route.
