Kochi: Police suspect that some officials may be behind the theft of documents from Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL). Around 10 people have been questioned so far. The incident is also suspected to be linked to an ongoing dispute and infighting among KMRL officials.

The case concerns the theft of data through unauthorised access to computers at KMRL's corporate office. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by the Systems Director. As the investigation progressed, police began to suspect that some officials themselves may have been involved in the theft.

There have reportedly been differences and factional disputes among officials for some time. Police suspect that the data leak may have occurred as part of these internal disputes. The police are now preparing to conduct a detailed investigation. As part of this, they have written to Google, based on the complaint that the hacking was carried out using KMRL's official email ID.

Police have also received information that the stolen documents were circulated through WhatsApp groups. The investigation will also focus on these groups.
