Student organisations including the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Kerala Students Union (KSU) conducted statewide protest on Friday, demanding accountability for the death of the student electrocuted at the Thevalakkara Boys High School. ABVP held a protest march to the Secretariat, Thiruvananthapuram.

The school and its premises were under police protection in view of the education bandh announced by the ABVP and the violence that was expected to break out.
Similarly, Muslim Youth league protestors also got into a tiff with the police at the KSEB section office in Kondotty. The protest was dismissed after police took the protesters into custody, with the latter demanding strict action against officials concerned by 5 pm on Friday.
Midhun (13), a Class 8 student, was electrocuted by live wire while trying to retrieve a sandal stuck on the roof of the bicycle shed at the Thevalakkara Boys High School.
An education bandh had been declared by student organisations in Kollam in protest following the tragic death, with both the school authorities and the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) coming under fire for neglection of duty.
KSEB officials are to visit the school on Friday to conduct a detailed investigation.
