Thiruvananthapuram: Tourists who were left stranded at Kallar Meenmutty region as a rivulet overflowed due to the heavy rains, have been shifted to safe places. People who had come to visit the waterfall site on Sunday were stuck. Even 20 vehicles got stuck in the area as well. Stranded people could be rescued only after the water level came down considerably.
The ordeal began when a rivulet coming out of the Meenmutty forest started overflowing, leaving several tourists stranded on its banks. Locals and guards swung into action to rescue the tourists.
The heavy rainfall inside the forest area is said to have led to the situation. The incident happened around 4 PM on Sunday.
