Kodaly (Thrissur): Anxiety prevails at Siljo’s residence in Kadambode Kavungal as more Common Kraits (Shankhuvarayan) continue to emerge. This follows the tragic death of Siljo’s son, Aljo, who recently succumbed to a snakebite. On Thursday evening, another hatchling of the same venomous species was discovered in the very bedroom where the tragedy occurred. Later that night, a similar snake was spotted outside the house.

To date, a total of five snakes of identical size have been captured—four from inside the house and one from the premises.

Extensive search and demolition

Following the discovery of the third snake on Wednesday, Forest Department officials conducted a meticulous inspection. Despite breaking open door frames, bathroom tiles, window grills and waste pits, no further snakes were found initially. However, after more snakes surfaced on Thursday, authorities decided to demolish portions of the house's flooring to investigate further.

Ongoing investigation

The search is currently focused on excavating the area around the bathroom plumbing. Forest Department officials and expert snake catchers remain on-site. Family members noted a chilling pattern, stating that the snakes typically emerge around the same time every evening.
