Kozhikode: A senior police officer has been suspended in connection with a murder case in Thamarassery. K.K. Noushad, a Grade SI at the Thamarassery police station, has been suspended pending investigation for failing to take the murder victim Shibila's complaint against her husband, Yasar, seriously.

Shibila’s father, Abdul Rahman, had claimed that the police did not act on the complaint filed on February 20, despite it being a serious issue.

Noushad, who also holds the position of PRO at Thamarassery police station, had received Shibila's complaint, in which she stated that her husband Yasar was friends with Ashiq, the man accused of killing his own mother.

Despite this, Shibila's family alleged that the police were dismissive and did not question Yasar or take further action.

As a result of this, Noushad has been suspended. Shibila's father expressed his dissatisfaction on Saturday, stating that the police’s negligence contributed to his daughter’s death. He added that when the complaint was made, both families were summoned to the station, but no action was taken. Abdul Rahman also mentioned plans to file a complaint with the Chief Minister about the police officer's negligence.

Shibila (24), daughter of Abdurahman from Nakkilampad, Kakkad, was stabbed to death by her husband Yasar (26) at his home in Tharolmatthu, Puthupaddy, on Tuesday. Yasar, who also stabbed Shibila's parents, Abdurahman and Haseena, fled in a car but was later apprehended by the police at the Kozhikode Medical College parking lot.
