Kothamangalam: A woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband at their home in Kothamangalam, Ernakulam, in the early hours of Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Kunjamma, a native of Kuthukuzhi Happynagar.

Kothamangalam police have taken her husband, Kuriakose, into custody in connection with the incident.

The murder took place at around 2.30am. Kunjamma and Kuriakose were the only ones living in the house. Their two children are currently abroad. Kuriakose had been recuperating at home for the past month following surgery.

Police suspect that a family dispute may have led to the murder. Following the incident, Kuriakose allegedly called his son abroad and informed him about what had happened. The son then alerted neighbours, who informed the police.

When the police reached the house, Kunjamma was found lying in a pool of blood. Kuriakose, who was still at the scene, was taken into custody.

Police have initiated inquest proceedings and are continuing the investigation.
