New Delhi: The Supreme Court will consider petitions filed by individuals against the Kerala High Court order in the Arikomban issue on April 24.

Petitioners Vishnu Prasad and Suja Bhai challenged the directives of the High Court on translocating rogue elephant Arikomban to Parambikulam, a tiger reserve in Palakkad district.

The advocates representing the petitioner pointed out that the apex court had dismissed a petition filed by Kerala Government regarding the issues faced in translocating the elephant to Paramabikulam on Monday. However, the bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud observed that petitions would be heard on April 24.

The petitioner alleged that humans might attack the elephant if it turns violent after relocating to Parambikulam. Therefore, the petitioners demanded that Arikomban be tranquillised like wild tusker PT 7, which was captured by forest officials after causing trouble to locals in the forest region of Dhoni in Kerala.
