Tirunelveli: Tamil Nadu forest authorities continued their efforts to send back ‘Arikomban’ into the deep forests, after the wild tusker ventured into an estate in Manjolai. Arikomban was spotted amidst the tea plantation on Tuesday night as well.

Inorder to shoo away the elephant, the forest department officials fired bullets into the air twice. They even tried to lure the elephants back into the forests by offering fruits. A team of forest officials and veterinary doctors have camped at the site at the moment and are closely monitoring the situation.

Officials stated that the wild tusker was supposedly in ‘musth’ condition. Meanwhile, the locals in the area are having sleepless nights. Two houses have been damaged by Arikomban so far. Luckily, people were not present during the time of the attacks.

Forest department officials have instructed locals not to venture outside their home after 7 PM. The residents have submitted a joint petition to the forest department to shift the wild tusker from the densely populated area with immediate effect.
