Kottayam: Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan on Friday responded to Muslim League leader K.M. Shaji's controversial remarks in relation to the death of late CPM leader P K Kunjananthan. He pointed out the gravity of Shaji's allegation of Kunjananthan's death from food poisoning in prison and emphasized the need for an investigation.

Former League MLA alleged foul play behind the death of Kunjananthan, who was the 13th accused in the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan. Shaji claimed that the late CPM leader is the only link tying senior leaders to the gruesome political murder.

Speaking at a press conference here, Satheesan claimed that everyone is well aware of where it will lead if there is a thorough investigation into the murder conspiracy.

"It is important to investigate the death of Kunjananthan, who is a link tying CPM leaders in the TP murder case. There was no possibility of another investigation when the charge sheet was filed in the TP murder case. But now that the case has been reopened by the High Court, the CBI should investigate the conspiracy behind the murder. Everyone knows where the investigation will end up. Pinarayi Vijayan was the first to criticize Chandrasekharan (after he left CPM). Following this, several leaders issued threats against Chandrasekaran in their speeches," Satheesan said.
