Kannur: The parole of Kodi Suni, key accused in the TP Chandrasekharan murder case, has been cancelled after he violated the conditions. Suni was taken back to Kannur Central Jail on Friday morning.

Kodi Suni was granted 15 days of parole on July 21. One of the main conditions was that he must report and sign at Meenangadi Police Station in Wayanad. However, a report submitted by Meenangadi Circle Inspector confirmed that he had failed to do so which in turn led to the cancellation of his parole.

Alcohol incident and police suspensions

This is not the first controversy involving Kodi Suni during his legal proceedings. On July 17 Suni and two other accused – Muhammed Rafi and Shinoj – were reportedly allowed to consume alcohol in the presence of police officers, while they were being taken from Kannur Central Jail to be produced before the Thalassery Additional District Court.

After the court hearing was adjourned, the accused were brought to a hotel for lunch, where their friends allegedly supplied alcohol. The accused consumed it in front of the accompanying officers.

Following an internal investigation, three civil police officers from the AR Camp – Vysakh, Vineesh, and Jishnu – were suspended for their role in the incident.

Kodi Suni has been at the centre of several controversies while in custody. In the past, he was also found to be using a mobile phone inside the prison.
