Kerala weather today sees contrasting conditions as record heat grips Thiruvananthapuram while rain alerts are issued across northern districts.

Thiruvananthapuram: Despite scattered summer showers, temperatures in the Thiruvananthapuram district remain unusually high. On Sunday, the maximum temperature touched 37.8°C, breaking a 38-year-old record of 37.7°C recorded on March 16, 1988. Although the temperature dipped to 36°C on Monday, it still remained 1.8°C above the seasonal average.
Amid the likelihood of intensified summer rain, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Tuesday in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.

The impact of summer showers led to a marginal drop in temperatures in Palakkad, where the mercury fell by 0.5°C on Monday. Kozhikode also recorded a decline of 1.3°C.
