Idukki (Kerala): Rahul Gandhi shared a lively moment with students at Marian College Kuttikkanam in Kerala’s Idukki district on Friday as he tried his hand at the ancient martial art of Kalaripayattu during an interaction on campus.

A video of the moment, which has since gone viral on social media, shows the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha attempting basic Kalari movements along with students while engaging with them in a relaxed setting.

“LoP Shri @RahulGandhi shares a lively moment with students at the Marian College as he tries the ancient martial art, Kalari.

Kalari is one of the world's oldest martial arts, originating in Kerala. It combines intense physical training, flexibility, weapon skills, and self-defense,” the Indian National Congress said in a post on X.

The Congress leader was also joined by senior party leader K. C. Venugopal and other party members during the campus visit, where he attended an interactive session with students.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi also participated in an event commemorating the centenary of a historic meeting between Mahatma Gandhi and social reformer Sree Narayana Guru.

Speaking at the event, Gandhi said that politics and international relations in current times were "running towards darkness" and away from knowledge.

"Today, we see in our politics, in international relations, that everyone is running towards darkness and away from knowledge. There is no attempt to understand the other person, you just bomb and kill them."

"It is the same in our politics. You don't agree with someone, you attack that person or become violent towards them," he alleged.
