Thiruvananthapuram: An altercation between Mayor Arya Rajendran and KSRTC driver Yadhu has sparked questions about the conduct of both the police and KSRTC.

Authorities are gearing up to review the camera footage from a KSRTC Super Fast bus following the incident. Cantonment police have reached out to the Thampanoor unit officer, seeking permission to access the bus's digital video recording.

Scheduled to arrive at Thampanoor at 10:30 pm on Tuesday, the vehicle currently in service will undergo footage retrieval with the assistance of KSRTC technical experts. Although an attempt was made on Tuesday afternoon in Thrissur to inspect the bus's camera, the police eventually decided against it.

Recently, KSRTC buses have been equipped with cameras, with three positioned from the driver's cabin to the front, passenger side, and rear. The police are moving forward with examining footage from Pattom to Palayam, where the bus and the mayor's car reportedly engaged in a race.

Allegations include the bus driver accusing the car of obstructing its passage and the mayor alleging obscene gestures and attempted ramming by the driver. The footage is expected to provide clarity on these claims. Furthermore, the investigation aims to determine who permitted passengers to disembark and the involvement of Mayor Arya Rajendran's husband, MLA Sachin Dev, who boarded the bus.

Despite the controversy, KSRTC has remained silent regarding the bus camera, prompting further questions. Additionally, an internal KSRTC investigation reportedly failed to include a review of the bus's camera footage.

While no case has been filed against the mayor following the driver's complaint of bus obstruction, police readiness for investigation was prompted by reports from Mathrubhumi News, which revealed the presence of a bus camera.
