Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM State Committee has expressed its resentment to MLA KT Jaleel over his demand for an Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe on the alleged black money deposits of Muslim League leader Kunhalikutty and his son at AR Nagar Cooperative Bank.

Earlier, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had rejected the demand of Jaleel for an investigation by ED in this regard.

The CPM State Acting Secretary, A Vijayaraghavn, phoned Jaleel to inform the party’s stance on the issue and expressed displeasure over his public remarks. “Aiming Kunhalikutty alone is not an ideal decision. By requesting an ED probe, Jaleel invites ED to interfere in cooperative affair and it may negatively affect the government. After all, it is against the stance of party and the government.”

The Minister for Cooperation VN Vasavan has also took the same stance and said the state has enough mechanisms to probe such allegations. “Government would not use any mechanism for taking personal revenges. There is a probe taking on and one cannot confirm whether irregularity took place or not in the present situation,” said Vasavan.

In the meantime, BJP has started measures to bring Centre’s attention in the issue.

Sticking on his earlier stance, Jaleel, said, “I will fight till my last breath to expose the hawala deals of Kunhalikutty and the wealth he amassed through illegal means.

He also said that he has not earned even a single penny through corruption and was not a part of any hawala deals. “I don’t even owe anybody anything. My life has been transparent and with that confidence, I can fight against the malpractices of Kunhalikutty.” He added that chief minister is like a fatherly figure. “CM has the right to guide, correct and advise me.”
