New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Monday to investigate the death of Disha Salian, the former manager of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The action follows an order from the Bombay High Court instructing the central agency to take over the case.

The FIR identifies several individuals for investigation, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, actors Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi and Rhea Chakraborty. The document also lists former state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, ex-Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, former police officer Sachin Vaze, DCP Vishal Thakur, Aaditya's security detail, Showik Chakraborty and several doctors, forensic experts and police personnel.
 

According to the FIR, public officials and political figures allegedly engaged in a widespread attempt to conceal the truth. “The then chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, father of Aaditya Thackeray, and others also played a significant role in the conspiracy and subsequent cover-up. The public servants and police officers concerned are also liable to be investigated for destruction or suppression of case papers, files and other public records, fabrication of official records and misuse of public funds, manpower and police machinery for unlawful purposes and for shielding the offenders,” the FIR stated.

The central agency will investigate the named individuals for alleged principal offenses, criminal conspiracy, the deliberate spread of a false suicide narrative and the destruction or fabrication of key evidence. The scope of the probe extends to personnel from the Malvani Police Station, medical staff who conducted the post-mortem examination, Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory officials, and members of the previously constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The legal turn comes shortly after the Bombay High Court criticised the Mumbai Police for failing to register an FIR for six years, observing that the original inquiry raised “more questions than answers” and highlighting major discrepancies in treating the incident solely as an accidental death.

Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high-rise residential building in Malad, Mumbai. Her death occurred just six days before Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020.

While Mumbai Police initially categorised Salian's death as an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and later ruled it a suicide, her father, Satish Salian, recently recorded a statement with the CBI alleging foul play involving key political figures and actors.
