New Delhi: The Central Government has issued a notification stating its intention to declare Tali Mahadev Temple, under the ownership of Sri Ongallur Thaliyil Ganapathy Devaswam Kalladipatta Ongallur, Palakkad, Kerala as a monument of national importance under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958.

According to the official site plan and schedule, the government is of the view that the temple qualifies as an ancient monument of national heritage value.

The notification, issued under Section 4(1) of the 1958 Act, invites the public to submit objections or suggestions within two months from the date of publication. Interested individuals or stakeholders can address their objections to the Director General, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), 24 Tilak Marg, New Delhi – 110001, or via email at dg.asi@gov.in.

The Centre has assured that all objections received within the specified time frame will be duly considered before finalising the declaration.

If finalised, the declaration would bring the Ongallur Tali Mahadev Temple under the protection and conservation framework of the ASI, potentially paving the way for restoration, tourism promotion, and national-level recognition of its historical significance.
