Amina (53), hailing from Kalpetta in Wayanad had recently returned from abroad.

Kozhikode: One more COVID-19 death has been reported in Kerala.

Amina (53), hailing from Kalpetta in Wayanad, who had recently returned from abroad, died at the medical college here on Sunday afternoon.

Amina was a cancer patient. She was admitted to hospital 4 days back.

On May 20, she had returned from Dubai via Kochi airport and had been admitted to a private hospital here. After showing COVID-19 symptoms, Amina's samples were sent for tests. Once confirmed with COVID-19, she was shifted to the medical college.

By then Amina’s health condition had worsened. Cancer spread to different parts of the body. With coronavirus infection, her health further deteriorated.

Though she was transferred to a special ventilator, her life couldn’t be saved.

From where she contracted the virus and has it spread to anyone else from her are being investigated.

With this, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the state touched 5.
