Kochi: Broker Nandakumar on Wednesday revealed that his intervention in the Solar Case has aided the LDF government in returning to power in the state. He added that the release of the letter written by the solar case complainant against Oommen Chandy helped him resolve differences with Pinarayi Vijayan in 2016.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Nandakumar also revealed that Oommen Chandy was targeting him through CBI investigations, which explains the reason why he disclosed the complainant's letter, purportedly with the knowledge of V.S. Achuthanandan and Pinarayi Vijayan.

"Oommen Chandy is behind placing me in the middle of two investigations. Chandy requested written complaints from two individuals against me in 2011 and 2016, resulting in CBI investigations," he said.

Nandakumar had earlier alleged that V.S. Achuthanandan had asked for the Solar case sexual assault case complainant’s letter implicating Chandy in the controversy. He further added that the complainant had accepted Rs 1.25 lakh for the letter.

He also denied Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s recent remark and added that the latter did not ask him to leave. Nandakumar stated that he met with Pinarayi at least four times and that the Kerala Chief Minister approved the letter to be made public.

“In February 2016, VS (Achuthanandan) asked me to inquire into the letter written by the solar case complainant against Oommen Chandy. On that basis, I contacted Saranya Manoj (alias Manoj Kumar). He gave me a dozen letters, said to be written by the complainant. I gave those to VS, and later during the polls in 2016, I discussed the matter with Pinarayi Vijayan, who was the the then party secretary,” said Nandakumar.

"During our meetings, Pinarayi repeatedly said that my involvement in the Lavelin Case has caused him difficulties. However, our disagreements were resolved before the 2016 election. I asked him whether the letter should be made public. I also persuaded him that if the letter was released, LDF would reap benefits. LDF received benefits from releasing the letter," he said.
