Kochi: A burglary has been reported at the rented house in Kaloor belonging to Monson Mavunkal, the accused in the Kerala fake antiques case. Officers from the Ernakulam North Police Station arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. It is yet to be confirmed exactly what items have been stolen. At present, Monson’s house and belongings are under the custody of the Crime Branch. Monson had received permission from the High Court to retrieve these items.
Monson is currently out on parole. Acting in accordance with the court order, officials had accompanied Monson to his house in Kaloor to sort through his belongings. It was then that they noticed part of the house had been broken into. Monson filed a complaint stating that several antiques stored inside had been stolen, following which the police carried out an inspection.

According to Monson’s lawyer, MG Sreejith, items worth nearly ₹20 crore have been stolen. The burglary was allegedly carried out after the CCTV system was dismantled. The lawyer also stated that when a team from the court, including a commission, visited the house about two weeks ago, there had been no sign of damage. The theft came to light only when they returned to the house in accordance with the High Court’s order.
