Kochi: The father of Mihir Ahmed, a student of Tripunithura Global School, has filed a complaint calling for a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding his son’s death. Shafiq, from Malappuram, believes there is mystery surrounding Mihir’s death and is determined to uncover the truth about what happened in the days leading up to it.
Shafiq has expressed concern about the final moments of his son’s life, specifically mentioning a conversation Mihir had with his stepfather shortly before his death. Shafiq believes that it is crucial to find out who was in the flat with Mihir at the time of his death. His complaint to the police emphasises that Mihir, who had been in good spirits before his death, must have had some reason for taking such drastic action. The police are currently investigating the case of suspected abetment to suicide, while a separate inquiry into allegations of ragging is being handled by the Puthencruz police.

In his complaint, Shafiq revealed that Mihir had regular communication with him and had not expressed any concerns about problems at school. However, the father raised concerns over Mihir's apparent depression, noting that he had not received any counselling or emotional support despite showing signs of distress. Shafiq also expressed his frustration about Mihir being transferred from GEMS School without him being informed and without Mihir’s consent.
The father also released screenshots of his chat with Mihir, where Mihir expressed a desire for his father to take him with him.
Forensic examination of Mihir’s devices requested
Shafiq has called for a forensic examination of Mihir's mobile phone and laptop, hoping to uncover any information that may shed light on the events leading to his son's death. He also mentioned discrepancies between the statements made by Mihir’s mother and other relatives, which he believes need to be clarified in the investigation.
Mihir’s death
Mihir tragically died after falling from the 26th floor of his apartment complex on January 15. His death has sparked widespread discussion and concern, especially after his mother filed a complaint alleging that Mihir had been the victim of extreme ragging. The case is currently under investigation, with police examining both the allegations of bullying and the circumstances surrounding Mihir's death.
