Kozhikode: Malabar Devaswom Board approved a five-fold salary increment for the temple staff. It has been decided to issue a revised order by solving the existing disparities in the salary. The salary revision will benefit over 7,000 employees. It will come into effect retrospectively from January. 286 per cent of Dearness Allowance (DA) will be included in the revised salary.

The DA which had to be announced in 2019 came up only in 2021. Earlier, the salary was revised by merging 275 per cent of DA of 2019 with the basic pay. The recently revised salary will include11 per cent more DA which was announced in 2021. Hence, a salary increment from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 is expected in the basic pay.

The employees have been demanding a salary increment exempting the DA loss. The basic pay of the employees in lower grades will be increased from Rs 750-1500 to Rs 8,500-14,400. Those who are in the manager grade will get a hike from Rs 11,910- 19,350 to Rs 50,850- 83,850 by this. A similar salary increment has been proposed in HRA also. The state government will soon approve the proposals evolved in the board meeting.

The board has demanded a package of Rs 50 crore from the government for the effortless disbursal of salary.
