Kozhikode: Citing the state government’s continued disregard towards the temples and employees under the Malabar Devaswom Board, the board’s staff union (INTUC) state president and MP MK Raghavan is taking up a hunger strike in front of the Secretariat from 9 AM- 4 PM on September 14.
The salary revision in the Malabar Devaswom Board has been in limbo for over a year due to a few technicalities. The state committee of the Malabar Devaswom Board staff union has warned of a strong agitation against this neglect shown by the government and the board authorities.
Raghavan has raised the following demands with the government:
- Present the Malabar Devaswom-related amendment in the Legislative Assembly
- Implement the salary reforms that have been static for a year
- Revise pension and gratuity structure
- Make available benefits received by board members to other employees as well
- Pay salary arrears immediately
