Shoranur: MR Murali, who completed the tenure of two years as the Malabar Devaswom president, will continue in the position. The CPM state committee has decided to offer a second term for Murali.
MLAs belonging to Hindu religion in the legislative assembly are entitled to select the Devaswom Board president. The election is conducted under the supervision of a retired district judge.
Murali took oath as Board president on January 4, 2021.
The Malabar Devaswom Board had launched the Pilgrim Tourism project, and a dialysis unit in Kadampuzha temple during his term.
MR Murali, who was the Shoranur municipality chairman and vice-chairman is a CPM district committee member and Kerala Karshaka Sangham district secretary.
Meanwhile, the administrative committee meeting convened on Wednesday granted Rs 5 crore from its indigenous fund to dispense wages for the staff in those temples with low income generation capacity.
