Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: A comprehensive education plan aimed at making school classrooms entirely digital, is set to roll out from the next academic year in Kerala. The project, which combines technology in education and assessment, will be implemented in coordination from schools to the Directorate of General Education.

The project aims to enhance academic excellence by closely monitoring students' learning progress. A digital profile will be created for each student, highlighting their abilities, family background and others. E-content for all lessons will be provided, and a dedicated portal will support students in self-study.

Besides teachers, parents will also have access to the digital platform to track their child’s academic progress. Continuous evaluation and performance monitoring will be digitised, with a ‘Comprehensive Progress Card’ generated for each student.

Preparations are already underway to develop a question bank designed to assess students' analytical skills through online tests. Teachers will act as mentors, offering learning support to students who need additional assistance. All activities will be monitored by Education Department in real time through the dashboard.

Although a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in October had initially approved the project’s launch this year, its implementation was delayed. It is now expected to begin after the cabinet reviews it in the first week of February.
