Ettumanoor: A cargo lorry has been stranded on the highway for ten days due to mechanical breakdown. The owner refused to repair it. With no money to even pay for his food, the U.P native driver drained the diesel from the lorry, sold it and bolted from the spot.

The lorry has been parked on the Ettumanoorappan bus bay on the M.C Road. The vehicle broke down when going towards Coimbatore after unloading goods at Kottayam. The driver, Rahul Sharma informed the owner about the mishap but the owner refused to help saying that he was losing Rs 4000 per day. He threatened the driver to return the lorry as soon as possible, Rahul told Thambi, a lottery seller from the area.

In the meantime, the vehicle company technicians reached the spot and tried to repair the damage but in vain. The driver could not afford the spare parts. The locals who live in the area used to buy him food.

The driver who said he would return after bathing in the temple pond the previous morning, did not return. The lorry is stranded in a busy section of the road which causes traffic congestion.
