Kochi: A worm was spotted in the food served at a hotel in Kalamassery here. 

The incident happened at the Sains Hotel in Pathadippalam. Following this, the food safety department officials arrived at the spot and inspected the hotel and its premises.

The worm was found in the food ordered by three youngsters from Mannarkkad. They spotted the worm in an egg curry they bought from the hotel. The food safety officials noticed that the food was being prepared and served in the hotel in an unhygienic setup. 

The officials have collected samples and revealed that they will serve a fine from the hotel owners.
