Thiruvananthapuram: In an effort to address the current chaotic political situation in the state, the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has decided to present a comprehensive explanation to the high command. On Monday, president K Sudhakaran and leader of opposition in the Kerala Assembly, VD Satheesan, will leave for Delhi. The primary objective of their visit is to request postponement of the organisational elections within the Youth Congress scheduled for June 28.

The leadership believes that the intensity of group activities associated with the elections has reached a level that threatens the unity of the organisation. The case of K Sudhakaran's arrest and the surrounding circumstances will be discussed with AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.

The leadership expresses surprise over the absence of protests by the Youth Congress despite the extraordinary situation of KPCC president's arrest. It is evident that the internal competition among different groups has significantly impacted the organisation. With Groups A and I vying against each other, there has been a surge in conflicting activities, they feel.

The Youth Congress membership and elections are conducted simultaneously. Members will have the opportunity to vote and elect state leaders. The top three candidates receiving the highest votes will undergo interviews and subsequently be appointed to the position of state president. Consequently, youth congress members are actively recruiting new members and engaging in competitive efforts. The primary contenders for the chairman position are Rahul Mamkootathil representing Group A and Abin Varkey representing Group I.
