Kozhikode court to rule on bail for woman accused in viral bus indecent behaviour case linked to man`s suicide.

Kozhikode: The Principal Sessions Court here on Wednesday will hear the bail plea of a woman accused in a high-profile suicide case linked to allegations of indecent behaviour on a private bus that went viral on social media.
The court, presided over by District Sessions Judge V.S. Bindukumari, will hear the plea of Shimjitha, who faces charges in connection with the death of Deepak, a resident of Govindapuram.
The prosecution argued that bail should not be granted until forensic examination reports of Shimjitha’s mobile phone and laptop are received. The defence contended that she has been in judicial custody for 21 days and should not be remanded further while awaiting forensic results.
Shimjitha approached the Kozhikode Sessions Court after the Kunnamangalam Magistrate Court rejected her initial bail application. She was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide based on a complaint filed by Deepak’s parents, who claimed that his death was triggered by allegations and videos posted by Shimjitha on social media platforms.
Government Pleader Adv. Sreeja appeared for the prosecution, while Adv. M Sushma represented the accused.
