
Kochi: To promote digital payment and reduce the use of paper tickets, Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has launched a new facility allowing passengers to book their tickets via WhatsApp.
The passengers can avail 'QR Code Ticket' feature through WhatsApp from Wednesday onwards.
In a function held at the KMRL office here, actor Miya George launched the new feature in the presence of KMRL Managing Director Lokanath Behera and other senior officials.
Kochi Metro enters the new year with almost one crore passengers. We will shortly introduce additional activities to entice more passengers, Behra said.
At the same time, Behra said that KMRL would take measures to facilitate travel in metro feeder buses and auto rickshaws in addition to the Kochi Metro and Water Metro using the Kochi1 Card.
How to book tickets via WhatsApp:
Send 'Hi' to Kochi Metro Rail Limited WhatsApp number '9188957488'. Select the QR TICKET option from the prompts. After that, you can select the BOOK TICKET option.
After picking your point of departure and destination, you may proceed and purchase your ticket. Even if you wish to cancel the ticket, simply send 'Hi' and follow the prompts.
