Thiruvananthapuram: The cabinet meeting held on Tuesday has decided to appoint the retired DGP Loknath Behra as the Managing Director of the Kochi Metro Rail Limited.

He will be appointed for three years. It is for the first time that a retired IPS officer is selected for the post of Kochi Metro Managing Director. 

Currently, KR Jyothilal IAS is the MD.

The appointment comes when the expansion plans of the metro are on the cards.
