Thrissur: Opposition leader V.D Satheesan has come out with allegations in the case where the KSU’s chairman candidate who won initially was declared to have lost the election when the votes were counted again in Sree Kerala Varma college.
It was the decision of the students to vote for the KSU candidate. SFI is subverting democracy by conducting a re-counting at midnight. Some teachers who suffer from political blindness are behind this act, Satheesan accused in a Facebook post.
‘There were two power outages during the recount. SFI criminals must have stormed in and slaughtered democracy in this interval. Sreekuttan (KSU candidate), though visually impaired, has a bright light in his heart and eyes and those with darkness are standing against him,’ Satheesan wrote.
In the first counting, the KSU candidate won by one vote. However, amidst KSU’s jubilation over the win, SFI demanded a recount. On the second count, SFI candidate Anirudhan won by three votes. With this, KSU boycotted the recount. However, when the results were declared at midnight, it stated that Anirudhan had won by 11 votes, Satheesan wrote further.
KPCC President K. Sudhakaran said that he was informed that the counting was done more than four times and that there was some irregularity in the recount. He said that the results cannot be accepted and that he fully supports KSU in seeking legal means to resolve this issue.
He also opined that hooliganism is rampant in colleges where SFI holds the union. He added that the fact that teachers were supporting this behaviour is a cause for concern.
