Kochi: In a major setback for SFI in the Sree Kerala Varma college union elections, the High Court (HC) annulled the victory of SFI candidate Anirudhan and ordered a recount. The HC accepted the petition filed by the KSU chairman candidate Sreekuttan.
It was for the first time in 35 years that a KSU candidate won the elections in Kerala Varma College. However, after counting was completed and the winner announced, SFI demanded a recount. Following this, it was announced that SFI’s Anirudhan had won the election by 11 votes. This is when KSU approached the HC.
SFI is of the position that when counting was carried out in the initial phase, the invalid votes were also counted. This is why the HC has ordered a recount of the votes.
