Kalpetta, Wayanad: Kerala's Forest Minister A K Saseendran handed over a temporary government job appointment to the tiger attack victim’s son on Sunday, in a move to support the grieving family.
Minister Saseendran made the gesture during his visit to the home of 47-year-old victim Radha, where strong public anger was evident. The minister also assured the family that the tiger would be shot dead. However, the tiger was found dead early on Monday morning by the Rapid Response Team.

Protest, public outcry
The minister's statement that the public anger was politically motivated had sparked massive protests. Locals blocked roads and demanded an apology after Saseendran suggested that the tiger’s attack occurred when residents started entering the forest. The protesters, many of whom waved black flags at the minister’s vehicle, voiced their anger at the statement. Youth Congress workers also joined the protest, waving black flags at the minister's convoy in Pilakavu.
After his visit to the family, Minister Saseendran met local representatives, forest officials and protesters at the base camp to discuss the ongoing situation and the government's response.
