Thrissur: A tragic incident occurred during the annual festival at St Xavier's Church in Thekkan Thanisseri, Kerala, when a fireworks explosion claimed the life of a man on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as 54-year-old Francis Parekkadan, a resident of Thanisseri. The explosion took place around 12.30 pm during the festival celebrations when a large firecracker went off unexpectedly, causing severe burn injuries to Francis.

Francis was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Mala for treatment, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident, and an investigation is currently ongoing to determine the cause of the explosion.
