Wayanad: The tiger that was found dead in Wayanad, was not shot, according to Dr Arun Sakaria, the Chief Veterinary Surgeon of the Forest Department. Speaking to the media on Monday, Dr Arun explained that it would have been impossible to carry out such an operation at night. The tiger was spotted between 12.30 am and 2.30 am, and the carcass was found at 6.30 am in the morning near a house.
Dr Arun confirmed that the tiger, which was identified as the man-eater, showed signs of injuries from a fight with another tiger. He mentioned that the tiger appeared to be young, likely around six or seven years old. While the cause of death appears to be injuries from the fight, he added that more details could only be confirmed after the postmortem.

CCF Deepa clarified that a team led by Dr Arun had arrived at the site during the night. She reiterated that the tiger was not shot and that more information would be available once the postmortem is completed.
