Chavakad: A Plus One student was beaten up by a gang of Plus Two students for coming to school wearing shoes. 17-year-old Fayaz, son of Guruvayur native Firoz, was beaten up by his seniors at Government High School here.

The Plus Two students hit him as he was standing at Muthuvattoor bus stop at around 12.30 noon on Tuesday. Fayaz who suffered serious injuries on his face and ribs was admitted to Rajah Hospital in Muthuvattoor. 

There had been a rift between Fayaz and the senior students as he came to school wearing shoes. Fayaz’s relatives informed that the attack on Fayaz was a continuation of the verbal fight. Fayaz has been undergoing treatment for disc complaints for many years. 

PTA President P V Badharudheen said that strict action will be taken against the accused students. Principal-in-charge, K R Unnikrishnan said that the matter has been brought to the attention of police.

Guruvayur Temple police have charged a case over the matter. CI Premanandakrishnan informed that charging of case on account of ragging will be done after analysing the report submitted by school officials.
