Dehradun: An alleged case of ragging and assault by senior students on juniors has surfaced at Government Doon Medical College, Patel Nagar, leaving several first-year MBBS students traumatised and fearful.

According to a written complaint submitted to the college administration, juniors from the 2025 batch were allegedly beaten with belts by seniors. One affected student said the incident left him mentally disturbed and scared, impacting his sense of safety on campus.

The college’s Anti-Ragging Committee has launched a probe into the incident, while the administration has already imposed fines on 24 students found guilty of indiscipline.

College Principal Geeta Jain said strict action would be taken once the inquiry is completed.

“The Anti-Ragging Committee is conducting a detailed investigation. Indiscipline will not be tolerated, and action will follow based on the findings,” she said.

She added that the Discipline Committee has recorded student statements and that penalties could include suspension if the allegations are proven.
