Thiruvananthapuram: Amid allegations and protests over gold smuggling case, the state government has tightened police security to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other ministers. At present, Z plus security is provided to the CM. Apart from this, the CM will also have the security cover of State Industrial Security Force (SISF).
Rapid Action Force is being deployed at events attended by the CM. Police will take control of the venues and premises one hour and 30 minutes before the programmes.
Over 500 policemen from Armed forces, local police, SISF and Rapid Action Force are deployed for the CM’s security at Cliff House and secretariat.
Secretariat and Cliff House have been identified as special security zones. Police have imposed fresh restrictions on entry of public and use of buildings. Police escort for ministers is also tightened.
