As Kerala local body elections approach, political parties are leaving no stone unturned to grab voter attention. Across the state, colourful posters, loud slogans, and creative campaign messages are popping up in towns and villages, energising supporters and reaching out to voters.
One slogan that has caught attention is, “No food, no clothes, no work, political and communal forces have crushed the soul of our land.” Such phrases are aimed at stirring emotions and rallying voters behind the party.
Parties are also using slogans to highlight their strengths and counter opponents. For example, a candidate’s poster said: “Not just here to contest, but already with us,” while the rival party responded with: “A beloved local by birth and deed.” These catchy lines are designed to stick in voters’ minds and influence decisions at the polling booth.
Political campaigners are increasingly borrowing from popular culture to capture attention. Hit movie titles, punchy dialogues from superstar films, and parodied versions of popular songs are now a staple of election promotion. Some candidates even cleverly adapt film references like 'Thudarum' (Will Continue): “Evr Thudarum” becomes “These candidates will continue,” stressing experience and continuity to voters. Phrases like “quarter-century of experience” are also used to highlight a candidate’s long-standing political presence and achievements.
Election season in Kerala has become a playground for creative thinkers, PR agencies, and campaign strategists, all racing to capture voter attention.
