The action was taken against the members of the CPM Taliparamba area committee here. Those who faced the disciplinary action include area and local committee members. Two party workers have been suspended for a period of 2 years.

The responses made in connection with the suicide of NRI businessman Sajan led to disciplinary action. Sajan committed suicide after the municipal authority denied permission for his convention centre.

Following this, PK Shyamala faced allegations of lapses in granting permission to construct the convention centre. This issue led to heated discussions within the party too.

It is reported that 17 members who faced disciplinary action posted comments on social media criticising Shyamala.

After receiving complaints, CPM formed a commission including MLA AN Shamseer, TI Madhusoodanan and N Chandran. The action was taken against the 17 members after receiving the report of the commission.

The commission found that the 17 members not only took to social media with posts against Shyamala but also liked posts against CPM members.
