Thiruvananthapuram: The state government will grant one-year long leave with 40 percent salary to the staff for taking care of bedridden parents and toddlers. The Pay Revision Commission has proposed this examining the situation of the people in nuclear families.
Staff who need to take care of bedridden parents suffering from Alzheimer's and other chronic diseases should be allowed to take a one-year leave. They should submit the certificate of a medical officer to apply for the leave, recommended the Pay Commission.
The commission also proposed child care leave of a year for taking care of children below 3 years. Staff who take child care leave will also get 40 percent salary.
The Pay Commission also proposed to increase paternity leave from 10 days to 15 days.
