Thiruvananthapuram: Draped in red flag, mortal remains of KR Gouri Amma, the revolutionary heroine of Kerala, was taken to Aroor for the funeral. Communist leaders MA Baby and A Vijayaraghavan covered Gouri Amma’s body with the red flag.
Many leaders visited Ayyankali hall here to pay homage to the iron lady of Kerala. Following the public homage at Ayyankali hall, the funeral procession carrying the body set off to Aroor from Thiruvananthapuram.
Her body was taken to Ayyankali hall from the private hospital for the public homage. Though the hall was crowded, police managed to control the rush by arranging seats inside the hall. Only those who obtained the police pass were allowed to pay homage to Gouri Amma.
If the state was not under the grip of COVID, the revolutionary leader might have received a grand farewell. The government relaxed the COVID restrictions for paying last respects to Gouri Amma.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala paid tributes to Gouri Amma at Ayyankali hall.
