Kondotty: Karipur airport has temporarily suspended the Rs 283 entry fee for outside taxis following numerous complaints from taxi owners and passengers. Collection of fees from vehicles that do not enter the parking area has also been discontinued. External taxi vehicles generally do not park inside the airport. They pick up or drop off passengers and then leave immediately. Therefore, taxis can now come to the airport and leave without any cost.
Moreover, taxis that paid a fee of 283 to enter the airport were required to pay the same amount again if they did not exit the parking area within seven to nine minutes. This policy also led to protests. Long queues of vehicles often formed at the entrance gate, causing severe traffic jams both inside and outside the airport.
