Kannur: Introducing new routes and enhanced connectivity, Kannur International Airport gears up for the upcoming Summer Schedule, with high hopes of bettering the business.
The 2024 Summer Schedule expands Kannur's reach to all Gulf countries, with flights to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras-Al-Khaimah, Dammam, Doha, Muscat, Riyadh, Jeddah, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
Through a recently signed MoU with Air India Express, international connectivity receives a significant boost, with air traffic movements bouncing back to pre-Go First crisis phase. Air India Express launches two new routes to Ras-Al-Khaimah and Dammam, with three weekly departures each. Kannur emerges as the second station in Kerala to offer Ras Al Khaimah operations, broadening travel options for passengers.
Additionally, frequencies to Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Muscat have been increased, resulting in weekly departures of 12,10, and 7 respectively. Kannur will now offer daily departures to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, and Sharjah as well. Plans are underway to introduce flights to Salalah, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur as part of this collaboration.
On the domestic front, Indigo enhances its Chennai departures with A320 aircraft, promising passengers a more comfortable journey. Besides this, Indigo extends its daily morning Cochin departure to Thiruvananthapuram, operating as a hopping flight. Bengaluru becomes the most connected sector from Kannur, with three daily departures, including two by Indigo and one by Air India Express. Air India Express is operating their domestic flights with brand new B737MAX aircraft which offers passengers a more comfortable journey. Kannur also boasts daily departures to Hyderabad and four weekly departures to Mumbai.
Furthermore, Air India Express and IndiGo are offering onward connections to a range of domestic destinations including Kolkata, Delhi, Pune, Goa, Ranchi, Guwahati, Surat, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Vishakhapatnam, Bhuvaneshwar etc. Additionally, IndiGo provides international connections to various European destinations, further enhancing connectivity options for passengers.
With aircraft upgrades and frequency increments, Kannur International Airport anticipates a surge in weekly seating availability. The Summer Schedule 2024 anticipates a notable 10% increase in seat shares, offering travelers enhanced flexibility and choice in their travel plans.
