Centre refuses 'point of call' status for Kannur Airport
New Delhi: The Centre has reiterated that it cannot grant "point of call" status to Kannur Airport. In a written response to Sandosh Kumar, Member of Parliament, Murlidhar Mohol, the Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Ministry of Cooperation, explained that the government is encouraging more Indian flights from non-metro cities to foreign destinations. Therefore, the "point of call" status, which would allow foreign airlines to operate flights to and from the airport, cannot be granted to Kannur.
