Perambra: Following incessant rainfall in the region for the previous two days, the four shutters of the Peruvannamuzhi dam, which is part of the Kuttiyadi irrigation project, were opened on Tuesday evening.
The dam's shutters were opened after the water level reached 38.44 metres. In the last 24 hours, the dam's catchment area received 84 mm of rain.

The water level in the Kakkayam dam also rose significantly, reaching 749.69 metres by Tuesday evening. Over the last 24 hours, the area received 58 mm of rain.
It should be emphasised that due to the prior uneven rainfall, water storage in the reservoir had dropped by 21 per cent. However, the increase in water levels has boosted electricity production. It is estimated that 1.45 million units of electricity were produced last day.
