Idukki: A few days after the district collector refused to issue a no objection certification (NOC) to resume construction of CPM area committee office building in Santhanpara, party workers dismantled the compound wall built here on the ‘poramboku’ land.

Earlier, the revenue department found that 12 square metres of the building was constructed on the land which does not have a title deed, and the party also holds 48 square metres of ‘poramboku’ land in the area. Furthermore, the collector dismissed the NOC application by arguing that the building was not for residential purposes.

Amidst these developments, CPM workers removed a compound wall constructed on the ‘poramboku’ land. With this, the party plans to submit a fresh NOC application to the collector. However, if the collector refuses NOC again, the party intends to take the case to the High Court.

Earlier, the High Court had directed the collector to issue a stop memo to halt the construction works. However, the construction works continued, forcing the High Court to intervene and initiate contempt proceedings against CPM district secretary C.V. Varghese. Later, the revenue department issued a stop memo to halt construction works.
