Rajakkad: A protest was organized by tribals of the Chempakathogkudi colony on Suryanelli Bodimettu Road, Idukki, on Tuesday, demanding the state government to bring back wild tusker Arikomban to Chinnakanal.

Several people from the tribal community, including women and children, protested from 8 am to 12 pm. Expressing their concerns, the tribals have cautioned that they will escalate their protest if the authorities implement measures that could harm the well-being of the wild tusker.

On Monday night, around 50 people from the tribal communities protested while the Tamil Nadu government launched their mission to capture Arikomban in Theni.

Meanwhile, a special bench of the Madras High Court will hear the petition seeking to shift Arikomban back to Kerala. While considering the petition filed by an Ernakulam native on Tuesday, the Madurai bench of the high court remarked they could not request the Tamil Nadu Forest Department to release the elephant in a particular forest region.
