Kochi: MLA Uma Thomas, who suffered severe injuries in a stage mishap in Kochi, has shown improvement in her health, according to a medical bulletin released on Saturday morning.
While some fluid retention outside her lungs remains, her lung condition is deemed satisfactory. The medical team has decided to continue intensive care following her removal from the ventilator. Her vitals and counts remain stable, with the MLA reportedly speaking with her children and doctors during her stay in the intensive care unit.
An update from Uma Thomas, written by herself, was released the previous day. In it, she requested that attention be given to removing belongings from a rented house, as renovations are underway at her primary residence near Pallarivattom. She and her family are currently staying in another rented accommodation. The note, written in both Malayalam and English, highlighted tasks to be completed when they return to their home.
Details of the Incident
The MLA sustained serious injuries after falling from an 18-foot-high stage at a mega Bharatanatyam event held at the Kaloor International Stadium, intended to set a Guinness World Record. The incident occurred on December 29, just before the event was set to begin. While attempting to meet an acquaintance, she lost her balance after gripping a temporary ribbon railing, falling onto a concrete slab and hitting her head. She was promptly transported to Pallarivattom Renai Medicity Hospital by ambulance.
